Quality

Most ID card printers print at 300 dpi. This is fine for adding a photograph and name to the cards, but sometimes it is just not good enough for your corporate logo. Have you ever tried to match a specific color on a color printer? This can be difficult to impossible at times. With high resolution lithographic printing, we can match your corporate colors using the pantone color matching system. We can use luscious metalic and pearlescent silkscreen inks. Your card design can include special effect inks, a foil stamp gold leaf, or a clear section allowing you to see through the card.

Anti-Counterfeiting

Anyone with a Fargo, Nisca or other make of dye-sublimation card printer and graphics software can duplicate your ID card, UNLESS you take measures to make your card difficult to counterfeit. In the past, the best anti-counterfeiting measure has been custom holographic overlaminates. Custom overlaminates present three problems: 1. They require a card printer with a laminator. 2. They have high origination fees ($1500 to $12,000). And 3. the manufacturer requires a large minimum order (50 rolls, 250 laminates/roll). Image Sales offers custom manufactured cards with anti-counterfeiting built into the card. We can manufacture them for you in quantities as small as 1000 cards. Durability

Dye-Sub card printers, manufactured by Fargo, Eltron and others, all require a PVC surface to receive the inks. PVC is not a very durable plastic. It is brittle and will crack over time. If you try to add an overlaminate, your cards may warp. We have several card formulations that combine a PVC surface with a polyester core. These formulations increase the durability of the cards. Dimensions

While most dye-sub card printers use cards that are the same size and thickness as a credit card, CR-80, some can accommodate an oversized CR-90 or CR-100 card. Don't limit yourself. We can provide cards of various sizes (CR-90 and CR-100). These larger sizes are popular at security conscious venues such as the Olympics.
Even if your card printer is limited to the CR-80 size, you may benefit by increasing the thickness of your card. Particularly with technology cards (see below), thicker cards provide a more consistent print surface. Adding a few thousandths of an inch of thickness will increase the durability of your card. (Please check the card thickness specifications of the printer that you plan to use.)
